TOUR 1: One week in Scotland – Off the beaten track gems.

Price - £695.00 per person. This price includes:

  • 7 nights in 4-star accommodation on a Bed & Breakfast basis.
  • Our guide to the best places in our Local Flavours Guide.
  • A private 3-hour walking tour of Edinburgh with a local expert guide.
  • Entry Fees to Edinburgh Castle, Arbroath Abbey, Pitmedden Garden, Duff House, Elgin Cathedral, Culloden Battlefield, Urquhart Castle, Dunstaffnage Castle and Inveraray Castle.

This is an outline itinerary. You will be given full details of all the amazing places we know when you book.

Day 1 – Local Flavours of Edinburgh

You will enjoy a private guided walking tour of Edinburgh’s Old Town hidden gems giving you a wonderful insight, from a local’s perspective, into this ancient and beautiful city.

Day 2 – Serene and Peaceful North East Scotland

Travelling north from south Scotland to the beautiful Cairngorm National Park and Aberdeenshire - a land of rivers, mountains, castles, and whisky. On route you will visit historic 12th Century Arbroath Abbey and another little gem close by. Lunch in a hilltop restaurant before travelling north to your overnight destination in beautiful countryside.

Day 3 – Gardens, Coastal Gems and Whisky

Morning visit to beautiful and spacious Pitmedden Garden. Dating to 1675, this is a wonderful place to enjoy the beauty of the Scottish garden. After your visit take a drive along the north east coast and visit beautiful villages to experience Scottish coastal life. After lunch in a local restaurant visit the early Georgian mansion, Duff House. Late afternoon visit to one of the friendliest and tastiest Whisky Distilleries in the region – Glen Garioch a true local flavour of Aberdeenshire and walking distance to your accommodation, we do think of everything!

Day 4 – History and West Highland Beauty

Today you will travel north east to north west Scotland and witness the changing scenery of rolling hills and mountains to dramatic west highland mountains and deep glens. Visit the impressive 13th Century Elgin Cathedral before learning about the 1745 Jacobite rebellion at the Culloden Visitor centre. Lunch in Inverness then on to the West Highlands. We recommend going via the dramatic scenery of Loch Carron, but Loch Ness is an option too! Overnight in a beautiful west highland village where great local food is on offer.

Day 5 – Discovering the Isle of Skye

A day of sightseeing on the magical Isle of Skye. We know many places on this magical Island where you can truly get away from it all. You will experience some of the wildest and open scenic views in all of Europe. We can arrange a private local dinner this evening.

Day 6 – Glencoe and Argyll

Travel back over the Skye bridge and journey through magnificent mountain and loch landscape to the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the UK for a lunch in an old mountain bothy. Next stop is dramatic Glencoe before travelling into Argyll (coastland of the Gael) visiting some spots of fascinating local interest with Jacobite connections. Continue your coastal route by Loch Linnhe past beautiful Loch Creran to the Harbour town of Oban for two nights in a lovely harbourside Guest House.

Day 7 – Ancient History and Landscapes

Travelling through beautiful Argyll to the ‘Bridge over the Atlantic’ to the Island of Seil for peaceful open views over the Firth of Lorn. Your journey continues to Kilmartin Glen, Scotland’s richest prehistoric landscape of stone cairns, sculpted and standing stones. Here, the landscape from both a cultural and natural perspective, is breath-taking. You can also walk up to the ancient hill fort of Dunadd.

Day 8 – West Highland Lochs and Loch Lomond

Travel to the pretty Georgian town of Inveraray where a visit to the beautiful Palladian and Gothic style Inveraray Castle a highlight of today. The gardens and views around the castle are stunning too. Then to Loch Lomond for a wonderful view of Scotland’s largest loch.

Travel back to your home or accommodation.

TOUR 2. Scottish Highland Wilderness – North Coast 500 an 8-day journey to get away from it all.

Day 1 – North North to the coast!

Travel from south Scotland to the north with a stop in Dunkeld for a walk by the river Tay, there are also some excellent cafes here for that morning snack! On to the Cairngorm National Park where you can enjoy a gentle walk. After lunch continue to the Highlands and beautiful Dornoch, a delightful small town on the North Sea.

Day 2 – Local Flavours around Dornoch

Sightseeing around Dornoch. You can choose from some wilderness exploring around Easter Ross where you can enjoy a lovely walk and visit a whisky distillery. Or, head to the Black Isle. We have a lovely route for you to follow on the Isle and this can also include some whisky!

Day 3 – Open Landscapes and Big Sky

Travel into the wilderness of Caithness. Enjoy spectacular views of the North Sea, stop for morning coffee and local history in Helmsdale at Timespan by the river Helmsdale. Travel on to Sinclair’s bay to explore the old Castle of Sinclair and Girnigoe and continue north to John O’ Groats. Travel along the north coast turning inland to the ‘Flow Country’ one of the world’s last wild places. This is a landscape with a vital defence against the effects of climate change. Continue the back roads to the very north coast of Scotland and Melvich. Overnight in a beautiful 4-star hotel with breakfast.

Day 4 – Mountain Wilderness and Open Seas

Travelling west into the Stunning landscape of Sutherland and a side trip to Loch Loyal with stunning views of Ben Loyal and Ben Hope this truly is a breath-taking landscape. Continue along the North Coast 500 to Loch Eriboll where you can take the drive to Cape Wrath – the very north west tip of the Scottish Mainland. Here, you can look out over the North Atlantic Ocean.

Day 5 – Gems of the NC500

Travelling the breath-taking landscapes of the Northern Highlands continuing along the North Coast 500, a day of exploring with some of our top recommendations. A true escape from civilisation, where amongst other things you can enjoy one of the best beach walks anywhere in the world.

Day 6 – Coast, Gardens and that hidden BEACH!

A morning stroll around Ullapool on Loch Broom and back on to wild coastal scenery to Poolewe where you can visit Inverewe Gardens. Continue through scenic beauty of mountain and loch where you can enjoy stunning views of Slioch. You will then take the beautiful drive down Glen Torridon where Ben Eigh towers above. For two nights at The Torridon Inn.

Day 7 – The epic beauty of Torridon

A day to enjoy the natural beauty and peacefulness of The Torridon Estate. We know a fabulous easy walk in this area with outstanding mountain views. We also know the local area very well and that means great food and local charm!

Day 8 – Depart Torridon and travel through Scotland to your home…

The price is based on standard rooms in the hotels featured. There are room upgrades available, please enquire.
