Scotland Reopens Let's Visit

Scotland Reopens – Let’s Visit!

Scotland Travel Blog – 31st March 2021.

In two days’ time, on Friday 2nd of April 2021, Scotland starts its journey out of lockdown. We will be travelling into the Scottish Highlands on our private tours before long, this makes us so happy. We are ready to pick up from where we left off at the end of 2019. We have stayed in touch with all our friends and contacts across Scotland and our other destinations. We have remained focused on what we do, and we have also built on this. We know that when tourism returns, people will be looking for authentic experiences as well as seeing the famous sights, and we have included many new and local attractions into all our itineraries.

We, like so many others in the travel and hospitality business, are looking forward to this date! The journey out of lockdown starts with a ‘Stay Local’ theme and, while we are all itching to go further afield, it is a start. Let’s take this ‘start’, be responsible travellers, and keep moving forward so not take a step backwards on our journey out of lockdown.

As most are aware by now, we always champion local businesses on our tours - the stay local theme excites us right now!

Across our social media channels including our YouTube channel – JamesCampbellTours we have been supporting local and independent businesses, which are away from the main tourist sights. Local businesses need us all right now, and we will be doing our best to promote and review the places we love as well as discovering new places too. We have already booked a table at one of our favourite Spanish restaurants in Edinburgh – Piggs Piggs - Wine Bar & Cafe

As we gently spread our wings and explore more of our home city of Edinburgh, and the surrounding area, we will be sure to support the many local cafes and restaurants that we have missed so much.

We will also be happy to shop at some of our local places too. Birthdays, Christmas and other events over the last year have seen us ordering on-line, and while we have tried to support local on-line too, not all shops offer this service. We will be getting out into our favourite city of Edinburgh neighbourhoods such as, Leith, Newhaven, Stockbridge, Bruntsfield, Morningside and Newington. We must also give a shout out to the unique villages in Edinburgh too; Colinton, Cramond and Duddingston, we love a village on our tours! The villages of Edinburgh is just one of the many things which make it such a unique city. Even in the city centre there are little corners of local serenity, such as, William Street and the West End The Ultimate Guide to Edinburgh's West End - This is Edinburgh and we look forward to popping in to see our friends at Scotland Shop Scotland Shop | Tartan Gifts & Accessories | Made in Scotland Another local gem is Broughton Street, (too many good pubs here!) A wander down this lovely street and into the New Town is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours.

We are also looking forward to the opening of our world-famous historic attractions too. This means that the doors of Edinburgh Castle, Stirling Castle and Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness and many other properties in the care of Historic and Environment Scotland will be welcoming visitors again. Many clan castles in the care of the National Trust for Scotland are unlocking their doors too. We look forward to visiting the likes of Falkland Palace, Castle Fraser, Culloden Battlefield and the many historic gardens in their care Homepage | National Trust for Scotland (nts.org.uk)

There are many historic houses and private castles getting ready to open too, and they are a feature on many of our private Scottish tours.

It will be lovely to see our accommodation providers too. We have already booked a night at the beautiful and 5-star Guest House, Craigatin House in Pitlochry (for our joint birthday celebration) Accommodation Pitlochry - B&b Pitlochry - Craigatin House

For clients, we have booked two nights at the beautifully positioned Pierhouse Hotel The Pierhouse Hotel and Seafood Restaurant as part of a tour which includes the Western highlands and Highland Perthshire. We can’t wait!

We must be patient, it will take time, but we will get there. We will all be able to tour, visit, eat, socialise, and go on holiday again soon. We will all be ready for it, (including us, we are looking forward to visiting family overseas), we are looking forward to a European city break, a change of scene, even if it’s just for a few days, it’s a start.

We are ready to welcome visitors to Scotland. We have never stopped planning, discovering and looking at Scotland. The only part that has been missing are our guests, who are always, the most important on our tours. See You Soon…
