Grand Tour of Scotland

A ten-day journey of discovery and local flavour through one of the most fascinating countries in the world.

If you start this tour from Edinburgh we can provide a half day walking tour of this fascinating city. Explore the historic city of Edinburgh. Visit the Medieval Old Town including The Royal Mile, Edinburgh Castle, St Giles Cathedral, The Palace of Holyrood House, the Scottish Parliament, the Grassmarket and Greyfriars Kirk. We also wander the many authentic closes and courtyards which are a fascinating feature of Edinburgh’s Old Town. 

Day 1 – We travel northwest visiting an ancient palace and on through Glencoe, the Western Highlands to the Isle of Skye for two nights in lovely 4-star accommodation on this island of stunning beauty.

Day 2 – Touring the Isle of Skye. We visit a mixture of must-see sights and hidden gems on this beautiful and dramatic island. We have many recommendations for the best local food on the Isle of Skye.

Day 3 – We travel through the remote areas of Wester Ross and Sutherland through some of the most dramatic and jaw dropping scenery to the north coast of Scotland. Two nights in a four-star hotel by the coast.

Day 4 – Visiting coastal gems and historic glens we head off the beaten track to discover sights on and around the North Coast 500.

Day 5 – We board the ferry to the Orkney Isles for your two-night stay in one of our favourite hotels in Kirkwall. There’s a magic to the Orkneys both in the unique landscape and the Neolithic settlements spread around the Islands. We visit some of the most important ancient settlements in Western Europe and learn more about the culture of the northern Isles.

Day 6 – Travelling around the main island visiting the most memorable sights and enjoying time in the Island’s capital – Kirkwall.

Day 7 – Back to the mainland travelling the north east coast to the Capital of the Highlands – Inverness for your two-night stay in a beautiful 4-star guest house.

Day 8 – We explore the area around Inverness, including local food and drink, Culloden Battlefield, Cawdor Castle and Old Inverness.

Day 9 – We travel through the Cairngorm National Park to spend our last night in the Scottish Highlands in a beautiful village. On this day you can visit one (or two) of the Speyside Whisky Distilleries. There are other local historic places on our list for today too.

Day 10 - Touring back to Edinburgh through highland Perthshire or via the coastal route to include the ancient town of St Andrews.
